Sweet Family: Party of Five!
Oh yes, you read that correctly!
We are expecting our THIRD Baby Sweet sometime in late March.
We may not know when this baby was conceived, or even how for that matter, but we do know he/she is growing & THIS IS REAL. (*Full disclosure: We know how. We just don’t know how it was possible when we were taking the precautions necessary to refrain from having a third child, I mean, for the most part, really…)
I had to make an appointment with my midwife just to make sure the two positive pregnancy tests were not false. I had a blood test. Then I needed a dating ultrasound (& reassurance that there in fact was a fetus growing inside me). Truly unbelievable, for about a month, actually. We were mind-boggled. And excited. And nervous. And inquisitive. This was the first pregnancy we didn’t ‘expect’. Emotionally, a little different. The pure joy is undoubtedly there, it just took a little longer for this to be real. Hearing the heartbeat was as emotional as it was the first time. After three pregnancies, I still can’t wrap my brain around it – the miracle of life.
PARTY OF FIVE
We’ve always wanted a big-ish family. We hope to have four children in all someday. Baby number three is gracing us with his/her presence a little earlier than we had “planned”. Ideally, we probably would’ve waited another year or so to
start trying stop trying not to get pregnant again. God has different plans. Isn’t that always the case?! All in all, we are embracing this little miracle with every ounce of love we have left to give.
Time for Twenty, er, Ten Questions
From myself to, well, myself:
Was it a bit of a shock? Yes.
Do I have extreme fatigue, all-the-time nausea, uncontrollable vomiting, “duh” moments, migraines, super low blood pressure, low blood-sugar levels & a general feeling of “BLECH-ICK-YUCK” again? Yes.
Am I looking forward to being well into the second trimester & hopefully feeling like SuperWoman again? Yes.
Are the kids excited? Yes, as far as they know.
I am ready for everything pregnancy-related? No.
Am I prepared to give birth again? No. (Especially not after giving birth to a baby giant!)
Have we used the Mucciphone* to communicate in utero with baby yet? No.
Will we find out the gender of the baby? Yes, most likely, if the baby cooperates 🙂
Do I want to know everything there is to know & more regarding pregnancy & childbirth, AGAIN? Yes.
Do we feel blessed? YES.
It will be interesting to see how the answers to those questions change over the course of the pregnancy. The last several months have brought such a diverse collection of feelings to my oh-so-pregnant brain that I’m sure everything will be different as time meanders.
You’re welcome, family & friends who already knew & were holding in the secret until we made it to the almost-second-trimester mark – you can tell people now. Sorry to those of you whom we haven’t shared the news with yet…it really has been quite a busy summer. We figured this would be the best way to announce our excitement!
I look forward to journaling my pregnancy through The Whimsical Sweet. I hope you endure all that is to come along with me here. Three ages three and under…THIS SHOULD BE FUN!
Thank you all for your ongoing love and support!
*Mucciphone: MOO-Chee-Fone n. a device, made from an upcycled toilet paper roll, used to communicate with a fetus in utero, usually used by the father-to-be or a loving relative or friend. Named after “Mucci” – Sweet Baby Number One of the Sweet Family. Handed down to several friends of the Sweet Family after their initial use. Also used during pregnancy of “Zoobah” – Sweet Baby Number Two of the Sweet Family.
Think we’re weird? It’s a great idea to communicate to your unborn baby. Talk to your baby, sing to your baby, read to your baby, love your baby. Not only is it good for you, it’s good for the baby. Also, it’s not so crazy to give your baby a nickname while in the womb. Open up the bonding between you & your child! It all matters.
