Do What You Love

Do What You Love

Love heart

Some people have it made. They’re content with life and full of happiness. Are they lucky? Gifted? Talented? Smart? Possibly a mixture of all of the above?

I find people who are truly happy have found their niche. Maybe it’s doing what they love, really loving what they do each day. Or maybe it’s that they’ve found happiness in their family and friends. Or maybe a combination of both.

Some people make it through life without knowing what it is they want to do. They haven’t found their niche & they’re working a nine-to-five job simply to pay the bills.

Oh yeah, the bills…

We’ve all got bills to pay. If there was no money, if we could live for free, well, then, what would we do?

Play this game with me for a minute. Pretend you don’t have bills to pay. What would you do? Would you travel the world, visiting beautiful places & loved ones across the globe? Would you sit on a beach sipping cocktails with your feet deep in the sand? Would you hike the tallest peak to accomplish a goal only found in your dreams?

Dreams can be reality.

Let’s say you had to work, but money wasn’t an issue. What would you do?

This is a question I have often asked myself and others around me in the lifelong quest for happiness. In my own life, I need my children. They make me happy every single day (some days more than others, of course!). I realize┬áthat I need music to feel content. That was discovered at an early age, lucky for me. As I got older and life evolved, I began to seek new sources of enrichment. I am now happy with a paintbrush in hand, knowing that my creations are traveling all around the world into hands of little ones, bringing a little joy to their recipients. One thing I know for sure – Other people’s joy brings us joy.

Maybe you have not found your niche. The day-to-day grind can be challenging if you don’t love what you do (and do what you love!). But what about that paycheck?! I really do find we are able to have the best of both worlds. If you truly love something, you will find a way to make it work in your life. There may be sacrifice involved, and it may not be the easiest road to travel, but stay focused & determined and you will find what is right.

Let’s keep each other on track! More to come…

  1. Yes ma’am! Nailed it. Inspired thoughts: 1. Sometimes temporary sacrifice is necessary for permanent gain, and 2. Just because you can’t do exactly what you want right now doesn’t mean the dream is wrong. Start small and practice flexibility. Do something – anything – that propels you toward your goal, and do an intentional something every day. Your goals will clarify and you will soon know the slow-burning satisfaction of bringing your dream to fruition.

    • Precisely! Well-said, especially coming from such an inspiring source :).

  2. Lovely. If I could do nothing but craft & paint all day while traveling the world… I would! Instead I focus my creative juices at work and use the excess on my side projects. Hugs!
