These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens…”  Actually NOT a few of my favorite things.  Raindrops signify it is or was raining, and I don’t like rain.  Unfortunately I don’t like kittens either, so whiskers mean nothing to me.  Here are a few of my favorite things:

Orchids and dahlias.  My favorite flowers.  Oh, and sunflowers.  I’ve always been a sucker for sunflowers, especially the red ones.

Venice, Italy.  My favorite vacation place.  By far, the most beautiful and romantic city my eyes have ever viewed.

Cinnamon Life.  My favorite cereal.  As much as I try to change this fact, I love a giant bowl of cinnamon life any time of day.

Anthropologie.  My favorite store.  I discovered this fantastic little nook of sewn goodness in my early 20’s on a trip to Boston.  Thank you, Boston, for prolonging my expensive taste.

Monkeys.  My favorite animal.  Let me re-phrase that…watching monkeys is something I enjoy from time to time.  I could sit at the zoo and watch the oragutans for hours.  They fascinate me.

Tazo Refresh.  My favorite tea.  Currently taking the #1 spot in my tea ranks, this tea seems to do the trick of calming me down and refreshing my soul, for the time being anyway.  Wowza!

Summer Sunsets on Canandaigua Lake.  My favorite pasttime.  I was fortunate enough to spend my summers on this beautiful Finger Lake in Upstate NY, and it would be rare if I missed a sunset.  Luckily I can say it’s my favorite “future time” too.

Time for you to share some of your most random favorites.  What’s tickling your fancy these days?

P.S.  I have to give my fabulous husband credit for most of these phenomenal photos.  If it’s good, he took it.  He’s got quite the eye 😉

  1. I was just thinking of doing a favorite things post for today while doing one of my least favorite things – washing dishes! I’ll share soon!

    I miss Canandaigua 🙁

    • Excellent, Emily! Maybe we should do a “least favorite things” list, what do you say?!

  2. Well, I am a gerber daisy kind of girl. They are so bright and happy they just make me smile! (Sunflowers are good too though!) And, I am with you 100% on the Canandaigua sunsets. That calms me and makes me see the beauty of my surroundings (a true slice of heaven). I am a peanut butter Captain Crunch fanatic (a good midnight, midmorning, or midevening snack any day!) And my morning coffee is always some type of highly caffienated and carbonated beverage! (wish I could learn to like coffee!)
My favorite thing to do these days is watch my kids in whatever they are doing….the younger ones are both SO sports oriented AND muscially inclined it is fascinating to me! I have a starting quarterback who is in symphonic orchestra (one of only 3 7th graders to qualify!) and I have a BEAST on the soccer field who is also first chair in the cello! And, I have a beautiful 19 year old who is cruising her way through college while working full time and running her little feet off in 5K’s and doing VERY WELL!
I cannot wait to come up this summer and share my kids with yours and all of us share the sunsets together!! My FAMILY….ALL of it…. gives me the most joy. I never feel alone and I never feel empty because my heart is full of FAMILY!
    XOXO-XXL

    • Beautiful, wonderful, phenomenal list! I left out the obvious choices, I guess…family!! I will be doing a favorites list from time to time as they are always changing 🙂 Except for family, of course…that remains in the #1 favorite spot!!

Thank you for including your favorites, I love them all!!

  3. Put the lake sunsets right up in my #1 position, along with sunbathing…which I don’t really do much anymore, bad for your skin and all that. But I still really love the feel and smell of sun on my skin.
    More faves:
    Warm sand between my toes.
Help around the house…any kind, any time.
    Butterflies.
    Sweets…mostly baked…some related to me! 😉
Red wine and chocolate- one of the best food combos on the planet, thank you Alexis!
    Baths- big and bubbly.
    Fresh air.
Sparkly jewelry (since I was little, little, little).
Get togethers where you can enjoy family and friends.

Thanks for making me think of things I like today, as I wasn’t feeling too in the mood to like anything! 🙂

    • Awesome, awesome list & I’d have to agree with pretty much all of them!! (Are you surprised?!) I’d leave out the sand between my toes perhaps, I’m such a weird texture-conscious freak!

XOs and thank you for your super list 🙂

  4. Lele, you’re awesome. I love you.

    Love,
    your goddaughter♥

  5. This is a great post! I may use this one, if that is okay?
    My favorite things:
    A good book.
    A quiet house.
    A mopped floor.
The sound of my boys giggling.
    Chocolate and dark beer.
    The smell of coffee.
Walking around my gardens and watching the progress of growing flowers, plants and veggies.
    A big stack of firewood.
    A beach all to ourselves!
Fresh snow on the trees and the ski trails.

    • Wonderful! Of course you are able to use it in a post!

Fantastic list. Some great things in there. Makes me eager for the next post about favorites 🙂

(& I like that you like the smell of coffee, but not coffee itself, correct? Me too!)

      • thanks for the permission to copy your post. What fun I could have. I am not sure when it will get done. I will put it on my list of things to ponder and start a draft.
I was a 12 cup/day coffee drinker and switched to tea when I was pg with my 3rd baby and had a horrible cough and cold. I drink coffee once in a while. I have to focus on consuming more water that is why I stopped my coffee habit.

  6. Monkeys??? That explains a lot.

Two of my favorite things (outside of people – ok?)

A good book and a glass of wine.

    best & blessings, Alexis

    • Yes, this I know. But you forgot goofy pet humor. You like goofy pet humor a LOT.

What exactly does it explain, I mean, are you insinuating I am like a monkey? 😉 Haha, you’re right though, it does explain a lot!

      Thank you for sharing 🙂

  7. A few of my favorite things:
    Alligators
    History books/documentaries
    Disneyworld
    Scotland
    Irish Whiskey
My adopted pet tiger (no joke…his name is Shamus)
My nephews wit at age 3.

    • Very lovely. Some of these things I knew, some I did not (particularly the pet tiger…I’d like the story on this one!) I’d also like to hang out with your nephew, he must be pretty witty for you to think so 🙂 Thanks for sharing, I love that you did!
